Kapaleshwar Temple

A Shiva temple on the Godavari known for having no Nandi bull statue.

Kapaleshwar is a Shiva temple near Ramkund. Unlike almost every Shiva temple, it has no statue of Nandi, Shiva's bull. Local tradition says Nandi guided Shiva to be freed of a sin here, and so he is not placed in front.

The temple stands up a flight of steps above the river and is especially crowded on Mondays and Mahashivratri.
